TITANIUM COATING
Titanium sheet surface treatment achieved through controlled grain growth and anodized colouring. The grain growth is controlled by the length of time the sheet is held above the recrystallization temperature. There are no pigments or dyes involved. The colours produced by anodizing titanium are formed by the refraction of light off of and through the thin titanium oxide layer that is produced with applied electricity. These colours are called interference colours and are directly a property of the metal itself and how it is cleaned and finished. The integrity and properties of the titanium are not compromised. A wide range of colours are available. The colours are voltage-dependent, whereas the voltage increases, the surface area decreases resulting in different colours. Special processing treatments impart fingerprint resistance and prevent yellowing. 500 x 1000 mm (19.7 x 39.4 in) sheets are available as thin as 0.3 mm (0.012 in). Applications include decorative applications, jewellery, house wares and architectural elements.
