Wood-acrylic COMPOSITE PANELS
Coloured composite:
The panels are made of several types of hard wood (cherry, oak) and measure up to 1.22 x 3.05 m (4 x 10 ft). They are cut along straight or curved lines and transparent or coloured resin is inserted into the groove made by the cut, to thicknesses of 0.32 to 5.1 cm (1/8 or 2 in). The acrylic substance acts as an adhesive and holds the two parts of the wood panel together, at the same time letting light filter through. The substance is available in a wide range of standard colours, including transparent. The acrylic layers may follow straight or curved lines, form special patterns, and several colours can be used on the same panel. Nowadays this procedure is used in the fields of interior décor, designer shop fittings, sculptures or partition panels.
Transparent composite:
Layered wood/acrylic panels for interior decor. Alternating layers of hard wood and 100% acrylic material produces a semi-transparent panel for use on indoor furniture. The width of the wood slats can vary from 20 to 42 mm; slats co-ordinated with the acrylic layer are only available with a width of 6 mm. We can supply a range of wood species, including ash, birch, beech, walnut and oak.
